Well it's been forever since I started this thing. Things have been busy and this week things got so much busier! Between finishing up work-related things and making sure I have everything laid out for Sydney it's been a stressful week. But in just one day I'll be heading off to Oz! I have my rental car all set up for my second week. I went out and bought a cool 1-person tent, the Eureka! Spitfire I. It should be very useful for the vigil at Randwick and opens up the option for camping during my second week! I've started planning out which Youth Festival activities I will attend. Like past World Youth Days, there are a million things to choose from and I am really looking forward to it.
A lot of people are surprised when I tell them that I am going to WYD alone. They ask if I am going to join up with a group of people I know (like from another Life Teen parish). Although being part of a group sounds great during the catechetical sessions happening during the morning, I've come to the realization that I really need to try to make this a PERSONAL pilgrimage. Don't you ever feel like you are always part of a group? I think that by being alone in most things during this World Youth Day will be the best thing for me at this point. It just makes sense right now to me.
Anyways, I'm really excited and I can't wait to start sharing my experiences with you. Stay tuned! It will get better, I promise!
